Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 10:19PM This music has been easing my soul here lately. Some new and old from songs of my favorite artists, Trevor Hall. I have been lucky enough to see this beautiful individual perform his art-worship live three times, also I have been blessed with the opportunity to sit down to talk and listen with him a couple of times. He is a truly enlightened soul.

Friday, January 4, 2008 at 3:32PM The smallest of answers offers the biggest of comfort. Thank You for allowing me to hear these heart-words,
it seemed like everyone i knew was dying
i looked in the mirror and i was on fire
somebody yelled out "hey, stop, drop, and roll!"
i said "that might save my skin, but it won't save my soul.
that might save my skin, but it won't save my soul"
you swallow hard and you bottle it up
try to pretend you're a half full cup
believe what they're feeding, you're eating it up
while i'm reading books about how they're corrupt
i'm reading books about how they're corrupt
he says he protecting us but he's a liar
i know deep down that it's down to the wire
my heart will stop if i put out the fire
as long as i'm burning
i'll keep on yearning
to save the world
not sure how but i'm learning
since what they call the beginning of man
blood has been shed for the rape of the land
they call it civilized, i call it crap
our only hope is to look further back
our only hope is to look further back
if we really want for this world to survive
we'll just take what we need to stay alive
it's a mistake to just take and not give
it's not true that we must murder to live
it's not true that we must murder to live
he says he protecting us but he's a liar
i know deep down that it's down to the wire
my heart will stop if i put out the fire
as long as i'm burning
i'll keep on yearning
to save the world
not sure how but i'm learning
and telling the truth the best way that i'm able
placing my cards all face up on the table
it's okay to be scared, you do don't hafta act tough
take all that pain and turn it into love
take all that pain and turn it into love
and let your emotions be fuel to your flame
being on fire will keep you awake
if somebody yells out "hey, stop, drop, and roll!"
say "that might save my skin, but it won't save my soul.
that might save my skin, but it won't save my soul"

Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 11:26PM These guys are amazing-- Ghost in the Machine. They kick major ass, rock hard. and furthermore were awesome enough to come back to the 'Ville (they'd played here once before on June 2nd with Left Hand Black and Voodoo Zombie Kings) on October 26th, 2007. That's right folks, the night before our wedding... (story continues below)
Josh and I decided on having a kick ass party together instead of having individual bachelor and bachelorette parties. It made sense to us to have it the night before the wedding because it would mean a lot of our good friends would probably already be in town and would want to party so why not have a rock and roll show at a local bar? That is exactly what we did.
Josh is the co-founder of a production company here in the 'Ville so that worked in our advantage. Within no time there were two venues willing to hold the show. After much consideration Josh chose Leisure World's Untouchables Lounge. Its just as awesome as it sounds people. Leisure World is our all purpose roller rink, bowling alley, pool hall, and of course bar-- which is The Untouchables Lounge. Venue, check. Next...
The bands were local. Both living with in a 100 mile radius of us. First there was Left Hand Black. Some of Josh and I's best friends and a metal band from right here in the 'Ville. We've had many a good night with these and their's and they were psyched about playing our party. Then there was an open spot. Josh asked me one day who I would like to play and I said, "Ghost in the Machine," without hesitation. Their show on the 2nd of June earlier in the year had rocked my socks off. We had seen them at a few outta town shows (including Slater's Rock and Roll Fest) since then and each time I was carried away by their beat. I would loved to have had them play our show and party with us. Josh talked to them about it and as it turned out they were able to come up and they rocked hard and partied hard and it was a kick ass night to be not soon forgotten (I'll post more about that show, specifically, soon).
Like I said, they are amazing. Listen to their music, I've conveniently linked their names to both their band and Myspace sites. Vote for them, in a local radio station contest. Support local music, support independent musicians, most importantly support music with heart.
Finally, I'll leave you with a couple of shots of a couple of the band mates, taken by my amazing husband:
