Magical Mabon

My spirits were high for Mabon. Autumn is by far my most favorite season, and becoming familiar with Mabon I knew that I wanted to make special celebration of the time when the day and night are equal. As I try to find my balance during this season this day seemed especially significant. The day started off groggy, but with excitement because I had a tea time date set with my dear friend Maurine. I got up and around and rode my bike to our local cafe where Maurine and I sat at a window seat and talked about our passions and recent learnings of this life. Maurine was sweet enough to gift me with a bag of natural fruit sweetened granola and a variety of Stash tea bags (yum), with a sketch of Venus of Willendorf and the message "Nourish Yourself". I left our tea time to ride my bike to work feeling so balanced and happy. Work flew by uneventful and relaxed, I was able to do a journal page about Mabon and sip tea while eating my hummus and carrot stick lunch. I rode my bike home with spirits high!
When I got hope I was greeted by two happy dogs, and then something not so happy. I saw that on the floor lay one of my good shoes destroyed by Barrett. I reprimanded him and he tucked his tail and hid. I shed a few tears and called Josh. Eventually I was able to release it. I started in with my cooking for our Mabon meal. I had just started sauteing some onions when there was a ringing at the door bell. I went and answered it to find our landlord stopping by unexpectedly (no call or anything!). He was going to trim tree branches and clean out the gutters and mentioned coming inside to check a window that has been broken since Josh and I moved in. I was taken aback and frusterated. The house was a mess and I don't like unexpected visitors. I called and left Josh a message to say I needed him to come home A.S.A.P to help clean. I went back to cooking determined not to let these two setback ruin my Mabon.
I wanted to create a simple feast of lovely autumny foods. This ended up consisting of Great White Chili and Homemade Wheat Thins, with a garnish of chopped onions and banana peppers from our bucket garden. Everything turned out to be absolutely delicious! Josh and I sat down to our nourshing, hearty meal and watched a movie while we enjoyed the abundance this season has brought us. Our empty bowls filled with lovely soup and our hearts filled with love. Mabon turned out to be absolutly magical, a great way to start my favorite season!
