Bliss Ripple is a catalog of clues— fieldnotes for living into one’s internal bliss. Compiled through the creative works of poet, artist, musician, and mama Maggie A. Bishop, Bliss Ripple explores the idea of resounding joy— how to create it and expand it through living with passionate honesty.

Here you will find poems, songs, and observations written under the influence of inspiration Maggie finds scuttling and searching amidst the varied Missouri landscape with her wonder-son, adventurer Arlo, and her artist-partner and dream confidant Josh (who is also a photographer and music promoter).

Apropos

I used to wake up at 4 A.M. and start sneezing, sometimes for five hours. I tried to find out what sort of allergy I had but finally came to the conclusion that it must be an allergy to consciousness. --James Thurber
Here it is 4:10am, and I am awake. My nose is snuffy and my ears are itching. And I'm not sure if laying down and trying for sleep would even be worth it at this point.

I've always heard that, even if never before, when you move to Missouri the allergies will come. Well, I've lived here 7(!) years, in October, and it wasn't until this year that I developed these horrendous symptoms. I am in Misery. I feel a change of scenery, or something, is in order. Or I may never sleep again.

Doesn't it seem like every year they get worse and worse? I don't have allergies but I always have sinus problems when it gets really hot. And Jonah apparently does too...Poor baby. :o( I'm totally glad that I started this space too...I never have time to write in my diaries anymore (remember those? hehe) so I feel like this is a kind-of substitute.

Isn't it crazy?! (Referring to us growing up and our brothers) It just sneaks up on us and takes us so unawares...OhmyGod, has it really been 7 years?! I can't believe that...It seems like it should be half that and ten times that at the same time. Make sense?

I love you too, Maggie Ann. I always have and I always will.
