Bliss Ripple is a catalog of clues— fieldnotes for living into one’s internal bliss. Compiled through the creative works of poet, artist, musician, and mama Maggie A. Bishop, Bliss Ripple explores the idea of resounding joy— how to create it and expand it through living with passionate honesty.

Here you will find poems, songs, and observations written under the influence of inspiration Maggie finds scuttling and searching amidst the varied Missouri landscape with her wonder-son, adventurer Arlo, and her artist-partner and dream confidant Josh (who is also a photographer and music promoter).

this picture is fantastic, you should tell Josh that I am envious of his Malcolm X-glasses.

and also, your dog is most likely a reincarnation of Virginia Wolf. She looks so delicate.

I saw a little glass hippo in a shop in Langley, BC, and thought of you. You and Josh look happy with the fur babies, and that is what matters. Actually, no; looking happy isn't what matters. Being happy is.

About SHOULDS... give them up. I decided, about 4 years ago, that there is no such thing as 'should'. Think about the word-- it implies obligation coupled with a lack of desire. So the next time you start saying to yourself, "I should ______ because _____," switch it to "I want to ______ because..." Your motivations will change, become empowered. For example-- right now, I should be planning lesson plans for my new job as a teacher, because if I don't, I will fall behind and become stressed and frantic when I actually have to teach the class... negative motivation! I WANT to plan my lessons shortly, because doing so will free up my time, and my mind. Positive motivation!

Apologies for the pep-talk... but in the dark days before the shifting of the light, all of us with seasonal affective disorder ought to (want to) bolster each other up a bit. Don't forget to eat all of the vitamin D you can get your paws on!

Namaste,

Endrene
