My Womanifesto

Bliss Ripple is a catalog of clues— fieldnotes for living into one’s internal bliss. Compiled through the creative works of poet, artist, musician, and mama Maggie A. Bishop, Bliss Ripple explores the idea of resounding joy— how to create it and expand it through living with passionate honesty.

Here you will find poems, songs, and observations written under the influence of inspiration Maggie finds scuttling and searching amidst the varied Missouri landscape with her wonder-son, adventurer Arlo, and her artist-partner and dream confidant Josh (who is also a photographer and music promoter).

Time for some more,

Randoms that is...

Everything is a hurricane and yet I find an eye. My blog has been very compartmentalized here lately. Tidy-clean, (usually) one subject posts. My life is nothing like that. My life is spinning so rapidly sometimes I think I can feel gravity. So tonight, to mark the first time, in a long time, I've posted something at this hour, I will write out my randoms. A few, or so, in a long list of things that make up my life.

• We are new parent's and I feel like a new parent. Our little man is very young and not yet properly weened, due to his mother passing away. He's just an infant in so many ways. Life is so new to him and so we teach him. We are kennel training him and surprisingly it is going swimmingly! Tonight he actually when into his kennel on his own when he got tired. Also, he has yet to have an accident in his kennel! I am in awe of these two things! And, what is more, it is not a fight of the wills to get him to go potty outside, he does it every time. I can't believe how blessed we are. He is such a charmer and most importantly Delilah is slowly, cautiously, accepting him into her world. She's doing great with this new stage of our little lives.
• I have gotten very little sleep these past few days and I'm handling it well at the moment. This evening I hit a snag and had to lay down and nap for a bit. Then I woke up and continued with the momentum that is our lives.
• My reasons for little sleep has something to do with Barrett. But also is due to our social schedule which is at times tight. Last night (Friday) we went to a homegrown rock show. My husband runs a small production company here in our town. He sets up and promotes local bands and their performances.
• My momma and dad watched Delilah and Barrett. Barrett got to play with his bubby, Winston, who my parent's adopted.
• The show was phenomenal. Ghost in the Machine is amazing and their members are incredible guys.
• Rock music, real hard rock music, is such a thrill live. There is nothing like that energy, that pulsing rhythm surging through your body. And then add rad lyrics that you can scream! Wow. For me it is like therapy.
• In fact I rocked a little too hard last night. My back and and neck are sore from 'grooving' to the music.
• Today was a flurry of activity. Two friends of ours had come up for the show and stayed the night with us. So we got up today, went to town for lunch, and saw them off.
• THEN, we went to mom and dad's to rescue my mom. We played and watched the babies, you need all the eyes and hands you can get to scoop squatting puppies up when they decide to tinkle. Aldo, they are just learning how to play so we have to teach them which things are acceptable to chew and bite on and which are not.
• We made some signs for a political activity and then went to a wave 'em, to stand and support our candidate for president. It was chilly but nothing nearly as bad as the last wave, afterwards I couldn't feel my feet.
• After the wave we ate dinner at my parent's then loaded the kids up and came HOME!
• At last, we've been napping, reading, watching online video, and loving this evening. And THAT is what tomorrow (well, the rest of today) is only going to consist of, a day of downtimes to prepare for a week of who knows what whirlwind.
• Today I hope to clean up the house, clean up myself, read, write(!), sketch the day away. I am also looking forward to delving deeper into the first season of Six Feet Under which my dear friend Maurine let us borrow. Perhaps we'll even set up our studio lights and take portraits of our darlings to document this stage in their lives!
• Good Morning! Good Afternoon! and Good Night!

Barrett is adorable! We just adopted a little over a month ago -- our guy is a 2yr old rescue but still keeps us up at night. He does this ninja move where he decides from about 5ft away that he wants to sleep with you... say right next to your face? Scares the heck out of me every time.

Best of luck with your little dude, he's a cutie and awful lucky to have such a good soul to watch after him. :)
