My Womanifesto

Bliss Ripple is a catalog of clues— fieldnotes for living into one’s internal bliss. Compiled through the creative works of poet, artist, musician, and mama Maggie A. Bishop, Bliss Ripple explores the idea of resounding joy— how to create it and expand it through living with passionate honesty.

Here you will find poems, songs, and observations written under the influence of inspiration Maggie finds scuttling and searching amidst the varied Missouri landscape with her wonder-son, adventurer Arlo, and her artist-partner and dream confidant Josh (who is also a photographer and music promoter).

The project that tired to kick my ass.

And when I kicked back I broke my foot.
So, once upon a time there was an aspiring little photographer named Maggie Ann who thought it would be "fun," "cool," "neat," to take a Creative Photography class. She had always wanted to learn how to shoot, develop, and print her own images. She started the class with much naivety and enthusiasm. It is now a little over a month into the course and she is downtrodden and discouraged. She worked hard on a project that may very well be impossible to perfect (at least for her and her ineptitude). The project involved shooting a whole roll of film that would, when put together on a contact sheet, make one large image. Each shot would, like a puzzle, just be a piece of the a the grand image that was to be built. Poor little Maggie shot and shot until she had wasted approximately 6 rolls of film and a whole 25 pack of photographic paper (this equals a lot, A LOT, of money). And still Lil' Maggie was unhappy with her project. Never the less, the due date encroached and she sucked it up and found one that she was semi-alright with (though she is pretty positive that the teacher will be, at the very least, semi-unhappy with). And here it is, in all its vain attempt for glory:
