Bliss Ripple is a catalog of clues— fieldnotes for living into one’s internal bliss. Compiled through the creative works of poet, artist, musician, and mama Maggie A. Bishop, Bliss Ripple explores the idea of resounding joy— how to create it and expand it through living with passionate honesty.

Here you will find poems, songs, and observations written under the influence of inspiration Maggie finds scuttling and searching amidst the varied Missouri landscape with her wonder-son, adventurer Arlo, and her artist-partner and dream confidant Josh (who is also a photographer and music promoter).

Is anybodies there?

Hallo? Hallo, hallo? Hallo! It me again, Margaret. Life is a bit of a blur, but here is a blurb of an update:

  • The Holidaze were nice. Sweet, merry, bright. Full of craziness and equal cheer.
  • Josh's car decided to give up the ghost on Christmas Eve as we tried to leave his parent's. Thankfully it was just the battery, sadly it was unfixable until just today.
  • The arctic has settled over Missouri. We are sans traditional heating (i.e. furnace and thermostat heating, for we can't afford to pay for propane). We do have a fireplace though, and two space heaters, we are making-do with those. Its trying and rewarding. My fingers a a bit numb, but my heart is warm.
  • We (my family and us) took an impromptu trip to Indiana. We left on Friday morning @ 7:00am amidst a snowstorm and arrived in my homestate around 5:30pm (their time).
  • Indiana was-- emotional, family-full (all of whom Josh has never met), heart warming/wrenching, the right decision.
  • I have two poems thanks to Indiana (so far).
  • We drove home today [Sunday], leaving the Hoosier state at approximately 2:00pm (their time) and got home around 10:30pm (our time).
  • We went to Wal-Mart and got a battery. The battery was installed but then, then the hood of the car wouldn't latch!
  • It finally latched.
  • Today [Monday] we have to be in Quincy, Illinois, at 10:30am because I am having oral surgery. I will be put under anesthetic for the first time, and the surgeon will cut out all four of my wisdom teeth.
  • This is my first surgery, ever.
  • And it is New Year's Eve.
  • I'm going to rest now, hopefully.

i had to have all my wisdom teeth cut out surgically when i was 14--the day before the first day of high school.

it is the only surgery i've ever had. i woke up confused and crying. the only thing i wanted was chapstick.
