My Womanifesto

Bliss Ripple is a catalog of clues— fieldnotes for living into one’s internal bliss. Compiled through the creative works of poet, artist, musician, and mama Maggie A. Bishop, Bliss Ripple explores the idea of resounding joy— how to create it and expand it through living with passionate honesty.

Here you will find poems, songs, and observations written under the influence of inspiration Maggie finds scuttling and searching amidst the varied Missouri landscape with her wonder-son, adventurer Arlo, and her artist-partner and dream confidant Josh (who is also a photographer and music promoter).

Home.

After a whirlwind two weeks I am now back at my house, dressed in my most comfortable pajamas, topped off with the biggest, chunkiest, warmest sweater I own. And even though it is much, much past her bed time I have just let my little Delilah bug out of her kennel so she can sit on my lap while I write. She rewarded me by showering my face with superfluous doggy kisses. She has missed her momma, I do believe. Tonight, the demo Brand New leaked before The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me (their most current album) is my soundtrack. It is just the right mixture of inspiration and melancholy.
This holiday season has left me spent, but in the best sort of way. It has been beyond busy, with Josh and I burning our tracks in the highway between here and more southern regions of Missouri. We were gone for much of the time leading up to Christmas, returning to spend Christmas night with my family. We staying in town for a few days and then left town again to spend time in Columbia, MO., returning once again for New Year's Eve.
I have decided it would be impossible for me to encapsulate all the happenings of this winter break in one post, so I would like to use the month of January to sprinkle about a few anecdotes from our wanderings. And believe you me, there are plenty of stories to tell. Also, there are plenty of pictures to share (many of which can be found here at my flickr site).
