My Womanifesto

Bliss Ripple is a catalog of clues— fieldnotes for living into one’s internal bliss. Compiled through the creative works of poet, artist, musician, and mama Maggie A. Bishop, Bliss Ripple explores the idea of resounding joy— how to create it and expand it through living with passionate honesty.

Here you will find poems, songs, and observations written under the influence of inspiration Maggie finds scuttling and searching amidst the varied Missouri landscape with her wonder-son, adventurer Arlo, and her artist-partner and dream confidant Josh (who is also a photographer and music promoter).

High tech.

Here I lay, in bed, enjoying the services of a wireless internet network and my iBook. These two miracles of The Good Lord Above allow me to lay in bed swaddled in Vic's Salve and sweats, being entertained by www.pandora.com and the wonders of the internet. Pretty soon things will get foggy from the Nyquil, but until then I will ramble about.
Needless to say, I am a bit ill. My throat burns with a thousand embers of hell. I have tried Dayquil, countless Hall menthol-lyptus drops, two cups of tea with honey, and now Nyquil and Vic's. As of yet none of have dulled the hellish fires roving in my throat.
My Joshua came to visit me tonight though. And we watched, along with my parents, The Devil and Daniel Johnston. A documentary on the life, music, and mental illness of Daniel Johnston. It was interesting and mind-blowing. It raises a lot of questions about the link between mental illness and art. It seems one is made more relevant when the other is involved.
