Bliss Ripple is a catalog of clues— fieldnotes for living into one’s internal bliss. Compiled through the creative works of poet, artist, musician, and mama Maggie A. Bishop, Bliss Ripple explores the idea of resounding joy— how to create it and expand it through living with passionate honesty.

Here you will find poems, songs, and observations written under the influence of inspiration Maggie finds scuttling and searching amidst the varied Missouri landscape with her wonder-son, adventurer Arlo, and her artist-partner and dream confidant Josh (who is also a photographer and music promoter).

Winter ate me.

It was so cute at first, the little diamonds falling from the sky, glazing the world with diamond icing. Making the trees glisten and the grass emerald glass. And then I almost slipped and fell on my ass walking out to my car so I could start it before I got off work tonight, and as if that wasn't enough (that just couldn't be enough)... As I was trying to get into my car, which was thoroughly frozen shut, my handle snapped clean off. I stood there stunned in the snapping bitter cold, my phone clamped between shoulder and cheek, cursing as Josh listened to my laugh dripping with disbelief. All the more, every one of my car doors were locked except my drivers side front door (which now has no handle) and my keys are in my car. If it wouldn't have risked freezing my eyelashes to the tops of my cheeks and possible blindness I think I could have cried right there with the unforgiving wind whipping around me. I love winter, and obviously winter loves me.
Yet, despite this crisis, one positive bit about the evening-- Joshua picked my frozen ass up from work. He shines like those crisp winter stars.

Luckily, I haven't had to deal with the handle coming off in my hand thing, yet. Last year I did some nice spins on a street on the way to an 8am class. I emailed the teacher an assignment that was due that day and explained, "I was busy doing donuts on 3rd street."

All classes were cancelled after that hour. Oh winter.

In an odd kind of way, I feel a little bit closer to you when the very same storm that went over you in Missouri is finally making its way to Indiana to me. Right now it is about 60 degrees outside, but the snow and COLD is supposed to be coming late tonight or tomorrow.

I know what you mean about the 60 degrees. On Monday and Tuesday it was so so nice here and then gradually on Tuesday it got worse and finally the rain started. And then the freezing, and then the mishap with the car handle. .UGH!
